After a break-in: secure it, document it, fix it properly

First steps
- Call the police and wait until they say the scene can be disturbed.
- Photograph the damage for your insurer.
- Do not clean up the door area until you have photographed it.
What we do
- Assess the frame, strike, latch and hinges.
- Make the opening secure, even if temporarily.
- Replace damaged locks and rekey if keys were taken.
- Reinforce the strike and frame.
Insurance
- We can provide photos and a written description of the repair.
- Your insurer decides what is covered; check before authorizing large work if you can.
